“I can’t say enough how helpful and professional File Bankruptcy Colorado has been! I was previously working with another attorney who didn’t return my phone calls. When you work with FBC they are always available on their mobile phones, they are professional, helpful and made getting through this process easy! Their fees were also less than the other attorneys. I highly recommend working with FBC – you will be glad you called.”

Shelly Dierking

“Definitely a great experience. Straightforward and to the point and well explained especially since this is my first filing. Would recommend to everyone.”

David Coates

“Fantastic experience. They were so attentive and extremely knowledgeable. Every question that I had, they answered. They made sure that I understood the process the entire way. I never felt like I did not know what was going on. They were a pleasure to work with. I would recommend them to any friend or family member.”

Grace Combs

“After meeting with several attorneys before filing, we happily decided to go with File Bankruptcy Colorado. They are very down to earth they don’t beat around the bush. They are extremely knowledgeable and always willing to go the extra mile. Though I wouldn’t want to impose on their weekends, even if you text them with a question at 7am on a Saturday, they will happily answer. Very easy to talk to and extremely understanding to our situation. This is a difficult time in our lives and I know we made the right choice.”

Ted

“I would recommend File Bankruptcy Colorado to anyone. They were a saving grace for us, at one of the hardest points in our lives. We were treated with respect and compassion and never felt like we were being judged for the position we were in. They did an excellent job helping us understand the complicated legal processes and really went to bat for us when it was necessary. Thank you, FBC.”

Do I Qualify for Chapter 7?

Chapter 7 is designed to help individuals and families get a fresh start. We use our system to quickly determine your eligibility.

You generally qualify to file if you meet the following criteria:

  • Location: Any individual who resides, is domiciled, or has property in the U.S. may file for Chapter 7. You do not have to be a U.S. citizen.
  • Joint Filing: Legally married couples, including same-sex couples, can file a joint bankruptcy case.
  • Credit Counseling: You must receive an approved credit counseling class within the 180 days prior to filing your petition.

Your income must meet the standards set by the Means Test. Income above certain thresholds can make you ineligible for Chapter 7. Our system, powered by BK FastLane, will pre-screen your income to confirm your eligibility.

This is the most important question. If you have assets that exceed legal exemption levels, Chapter 7 may NOT be the right option, as you risk losing those unprotected assets. We will help you assess this risk before filing.

If you received a Discharge in a prior bankruptcy filing, there is a waiting period. This is an unusual limitation, but we check your filing history to ensure you qualify now.
